I graduated from FHSU in 2000 with a BS in Elementary Education. In 2001, completed my Early Childhood Endorsement and began my Masters as a Reading Specialist.
After getting married and moving to Colorado Springs, I put my own education on hold and began teaching. I accepted a K-1 looping teaching position. While teaching there, I had weekly observations and dialogues with an excellent Literacy Coach and was trained in Lindamood-Bell. I volunteered to teach an afterschool Lindamood Bell clinic.
After two years, we relocated back to Wichita. I helped begin a preschool at St. Jude Catholic School and taught there for two years. I moved into the Kindergarten position when it opened up and decided to work on finishing my Masters. I graduated from WSU in May 2007 with a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and a provisional Reading Specialist license.
I am currently the Reading Specialist at St. Mark's Charter School where I provide Reading intervention for struggling readers in grades K-8.
